Carbon offsetting

CARBON FOOTPRINT

FYE has made a Carbon Footprint to measure and offset the greenhouse emissions associated with the production of its shoes. The carbon index, meaning the quantity of CO2 emissions, of a pair of FYE shoes is of 2800 g eq CO2 and 319 g CO2 eq / 100 g UVC.

We decided to support the Planète Urgence association, a partner of the UN "One Billion Trees"campaign. By sponsoring a reforestation project, FYE engages in a voluntary offsetting: a pair of FYE purchased = 1 tree planted.

Indeed, the greenhouse gas emissions are involved in global warming. This climate change is dangerous both for humans and for the entire ecosystem.

PLANETE URGENCE AND FYE

  • Planete Urgence and its reforestation and community development project

The protection, restoration and reforestation of the mangrove on the island of Sumatra is one of the issues on which Planète Urgence is working with the Indonesian association YAGASU. Mangroves are a major stake since they are the most biomass productive ecosystems on our planet!

The reforestation goal for 2010 is to plant 580,000 trees. 130,000 Trees have been planted in the first trimester of 2010.

  • Planete Urgence and the "climate emergency" operation

To meet the challenge of climate change, Planète Urgence proposes a large reforestation project in the world.

This operation relies on the Planète Urgence know-how, which has been carrying out, for four years, actions for carbon storage, human development for the people in the South and conservation of biodiversity. This operation supports the « One Billion Trees » campaign promoted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
